An Historical Look At The Viking Kitchen Range

As you know, there are several (if not thousands!) of kitchen ranges to choose from.  If you are in the middle of remodeling your kitchen and want only the best you can buy, then you should consider purchasing a Viking kitchen range.  Viking is a company that provides only the best products, at competitive prices.  You will never go wrong by going with this established and well-respected company.

The Viking Range Corporation is a private enterprise that supplies kitchen appliances throughout the world.  Its headquarters are located in Mississippi and it has a huge variety of appliances available.  It manufactures and markets stoves, ovens, freezers and garbage disposals among other things.  It also is known for its durable small kitchen appliances such as mixers and blenders.  Not only that, Viking provides many outdoor cooking appliances that make barbequing a snap.  The corporation also provides ongoing cooking seminars throughout the United States for both professional chefs and household cooks.

The company was first established by Fred Carl, Jr.  His background was in building contracting and while attending college had to work part-time in the construction business.  This is where he saw the importance of good kitchen design.  His ideas were widely accepted and he started setting up showrooms displaying eye-appealing and highly durable kitchens.  He was able to visualize and set up home kitchens that formerly were found only in professional restaurant establishments.

In 1980, Carl, Jr. and his wife decided that they needed to update their own kitchen.  They wanted to add a kitchen range that was large and similar to that found in commercial-grade kitchens.  However, these types of stoves were illegal in some areas because of fire hazards and so on.  They also required specialized installation such as special gas lines and venting systems.  Carl, Jr. saw an opportunity to design a commercial-grade stove that would be acceptable in residential homes.

It only took Carl, Jr. a few months to come up with the first Viking kitchen range.  This fledgling stove combined the features of a standard residential stove with the professional features of a commercial stove.  It performed remarkably well and spiked the interest of many people throughout the United States.  The rest is history:  The Viking Company today has grown to be one of the most important kitchen appliance manufacturers in the world.
